## Choose c15t to connect service choices to product code

c15t is the stronger fit when consent must drive your application's components, vendor behaviour and records. Your team can own the interface and the backend implementation.

tarteaucitron.js is an open-source manager with individual service controls and integration definitions. Its separate Pro service adds automatic detection, an online dashboard and consent statistics.

## Let Inth run your consent backend

You need a backend to store consent records outside the visitor's browser. [Inth](https://inth.com) builds c15t and hosts that backend and its database for c15t's framework integrations, browser package and headless API. Your consent interface and vendor controls stay in your application.

Connect your application to an Inth project with the [framework setup guide](/docs/frameworks). Inth also serves your consent policy, so static sites can use it without their own application server.

Offline mode keeps choices on the visitor's device and creates no remote consent records. Use it for development and tests, not production.

You can [self-host the c15t backend](/docs/self-host/overview) when your team needs to operate the service. Your team then owns the database, backups, updates and availability.

## Compare the application workflow

|What you need|c15t|tarteaucitron.js|
|--|--|--|
|Use consent in framework components|Native adapters and reactive state|Browser service manager|
|Give visitors service choices|Category and individual vendor controls|Individual service preferences|
|Control configured vendors|Integration helpers, request rules and embeds|Service definitions and content placeholders|
|Change the interface|Themes, component parts and headless APIs|Configurable banner, service panel and open source|
|Choose the Next.js response|Server, streamed or browser resolution|Browser integration in the reviewed guide|
|Keep remote records|Inth hosts the backend and stores records in its database. Self-hosting is optional|No equivalent record backend established for the open-source library|
|Use Google Consent Mode|Documented Google tag and GTM integrations|Documented Consent Mode integrations|
|Discover services automatically|**Not included in the c15t packages**|Separate Pro service|
|Pay for software|No licence fee. Backend costs remain|Free library. Pro has a separate fee|

## Keep the service rule with the feature

Your c15t consent state can control a video placeholder, analytics integration and privacy settings screen. The same product team can review each change.

Register vendors through [c15t integrations](/docs/integrations/overview). Use a [custom integration](/docs/integrations/building-integrations) when the vendor needs behaviour beyond a current helper.

tarteaucitron.js also controls individual services and supported embeds. c15t's advantage is the native framework workflow and the backend that your team can deploy.

## Use a backend built for consent records

c15t supplies endpoints for policy resolution and recorded choices. Use Inth to run them, or operate the database and backend yourself.

Your team can inspect how a choice moves from the interface to the record. Check backend confirmation separately from browser state.

The tarteaucitron.js guide documents browser service controls. Pro consent statistics do not, by themselves, establish an equivalent per-visitor record API. Confirm that scope if you need it.

## What c15t does not include

* **The Pro service's automatic detection workflow.** c15t needs explicit vendor integration.
* **A direct replacement for every service definition.** Check each vendor's options and add a custom loader where needed.
* **An automatic transfer of previous choices.** Map services to categories and preserve individual refusals.
* **Complete deletion of vendor data after withdrawal.** Declared cleanup follows category changes and browser permissions.

A vendor-only refusal does not trigger c15t's category cleanup. A browser cannot delete another origin's cookies or `HttpOnly` cookies.

## Move one service before the whole site

Choose c15t when native application integration and backend ownership are the priorities. A site focused on the current service catalogue or Pro automation can need less change with tarteaucitron.

Start with [Inth and the framework guide](/docs/frameworks). Pick one service, register its replacement and remove the old loader.

Test a refusal, later acceptance and withdrawal after the vendor ran. Use the [verification guide](/docs/guides/verify-consent) to check requests and saved records.
